Ahhh Art

Finally someone mixed the beauty a drop of the good stuff and some creative sculpture to make us actually want to visit a gallery and not have to worry about the meaning of the piece.
Artist Hannes Broecker sent out invitations for a few lucky folks to have a drink at his exhibition in Dresden, Germany, where he hung nine flat glass containers that were filled with various cocktails. Amongst the crowd in the middle of the room was a stack of glasses that viewers could take and fill up with a colorful cocktail of their choice. As the night went on the colors disappeared and the drunkenness prevailed.
Cheers Hannes for the drink

Laurent Massaloux

While browsing around the endless wasteland that we call the internet I fell upon the work of French designer Laurent Massaloux and was pleasantly surprised. His designs are cool, crisp, quirky, semi functional, fresh and just a tad humorous.

Movember

I'm very hungover today, so I don't know why I'm bothering to bother with this. But I found that I couldn't resist telling you people about this one. You may have seen it floating around on boing or +KN ,but for those of you that haven't this is the best spin on a beanie I have seen in a very long time. Better then a reservoir tip or pom pom or the next snow trend that comes along.

Robot Love

A couple years back a buddy of mine had a tiny little art/ music show on a Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of a art supply store. The scene was mellow and not much was happening until a lil known band name Robot Love came on. While they were setting up the lead singer grabbed the mic and beatboxing beats like Drop It Like It's Hot, by Snoop. The Kid kills it, he can play four beats at once and sing just with his mouth and a mic. Long story short his band Robot Love performed a solid little amateur show.
Last night I herd they were headlining a show at a sweet little club in downtown LA and jumped at the chance to go see them again. Once again the singer beatboxed even better than before and his band threw down some sweet beats throughout the entire show. Everyone was on their feet dancing, jumping and shouting tripping out to their wild light show that I can totally tell is inspired by Daft Punk.
Check out their video below and listen to a few tracks on their MySpace.

Oh Microsoft, You Really Aren't So Bad
I'll admit it, I'm a Mac guy. I love the stuff. The iPod, the iPhone, the computers and just everything they invent seems to some how amaze me and make me want to buy it. What was really lame though was when they started running those endless "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" commercials" over and over and over. Sure they were funny at first but 10 commercials later I wanted to put a gun in my mouth.Microsoft has been popping out quality commercials for their X-Box for years now with the latest for the X-Box 360 being for sure one of the bests. I really enjoy how Microsoft is thinking outside of that little white Mac box and exploring with the X-Box advertising.
Thanks PC for being cooler than Mac.

The Last One Laughing

So recently while flicking through the channels of what my grandmother calls the idiot box I stopped on one of my favorite channels, The Discovery Channel. In the past few years Discovery has just gotten more and more amazing by introducing shows that are no longer narrated by a 90 year-old but shows that are wild, entertaining and funny. Shows like Mike Rowe's Dirty Jobs, Myth Busters and Bear Grills' Man Vs. Wild not only teach us something but they have a personality that is irreplaceable by previous shows of Bees building their hives.
To get back to the point, when I stopped on Discovery I was instantly greeted by imagery of 5 half naked white guys getting wrestling with some local African villagers. It turns out this show is called The Last One Standing and it takes 5 different types of fitness experts or athletes around the world to remote villages to compete in tribal games, challenges and ceremonies. The men live, train and are taught by the locals in various rituals from wrestling to stick fighting to cricket.
I'm hooked now with my personal favorite being the drop kick fighting episode. For so reason there is nothing better than seeing a westerner getting his ass kicked (literally) by some local tribesman who's never seen a weight room in his life.

Neffty

What started out as a creative little snowboard headwear company named Neff Headwear, has branched out to have an impact on the fashion of skaters and snowboarders across North America and even Europe. By designing clothes that you can "picture yourself ballin' in", Neff has made a huge impact with their bright colors, loud patterns and wild design. By combining 80's colors and patterns in a ghetto kinda way Neff has a GangStar like look that is sure to turn heads. Now all Neff needs to do is change their name from Neff Headwear to Neff Ballin' Wear.

The King ain't the King anymore
I guessing there is quite a few people out there who will file this under who gives a shit. So be it, yet I'll set the record straight before I delve into this. I don't usually listen to country music, country would take up approximately 50 songs out of the 10,000 on my ipod at the moment. But those 50 songs are by the man who was yesterday crowned the best-selling solo artist in history, overtaking Elvis. I wouldn't even be able to tell you another country singers name, but I do love everything Garth Brooks produces, except that Chris Gaines crap he thought was a good idea at the time. He really did push the boundaries when it came to bringing country music to people who would rather get their ears eaten off by a bengal tiger then listen to country. So lets all hail the new king.

Lift Off

It's about that time of year again to start hitting the slops with those funny lil things strapped to your legs. Riding down is so fun but we always dread that long cold boring lift ride up. Hopefully these creative lifts in the Alps will catch on in the rest of the world and help in warming us all up.
